Finding All 20 Fallout 4 Bobbleheads: Locations and Stat Perks
Vault-Tec Bobbleheads represent the most significant collectible items in the Commonwealth. Unlike magazines, which offer incremental bonuses, each of the 20 bobbleheads provides a massive, permanent upgrade to either your base S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats or specific gameplay mechanics. In the current landscape of the game, finding these items remains a priority for optimizing high-level builds and completing achievements.
There is a critical mechanic regarding the seven S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bobbleheads: if you collect one while your natural stat is already at 10, it will permanently increase that stat to 11. This is the only way to exceed the standard cap without temporary buffs from clothing or consumables. For this reason, many experienced players delay picking up specific attribute bobbleheads until they have invested maximum perk points into that category.
The Seven S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Stat Bobbleheads
Strength Bobblehead
Location: Mass Fusion Building Effect: +1 Strength permanently.
The Mass Fusion Building is a landmark located in the central Boston area. To find the Strength Bobblehead, you must navigate to the upper tiers of the lobby. It is perched on top of a large metal statue that hangs directly over the main desk area. To reach it, head to the fifth floor (often accessible via the main quest "Mass Fusion" or by careful platforming). From the balcony overlooking the lobby, you can jump onto the head of the statue to claim your prize. High-level Gunners or Brotherhood of Steel patrols often occupy this building, so expect a vertical firefight.
Perception Bobblehead
Location: Museum of Freedom, Concord Effect: +1 Perception permanently.
Most players encounter this bobblehead during the first hour of gameplay. It is located in the room where you first meet Preston Garvey and the survivors. Look on the large metal desk next to a broken terminal on the left side of the room. Perception is vital for V.A.T.S. accuracy, making this an essential early-game pick-up for rifleman or sniper builds.
Endurance Bobblehead
Location: Poseidon Energy Effect: +1 Endurance permanently.
Poseidon Energy is situated in the southeastern coastal region of the Commonwealth. This area is heavily irradiated and defended by a large contingent of Raiders led by Cutty. Enter the central power plant and head to the main elevated office overlooking the turbine floor. The bobblehead is sitting on a metal desk alongside a Tesla Science magazine. Be prepared for close-quarters combat against enemies in Power Armor.
Charisma Bobblehead
Location: Parsons State Insane Asylum Effect: +1 Charisma permanently.
This is one of the few bobbleheads locked behind a specific questline. You cannot enter the asylum without starting "The Secret of Cabot House." To begin, you must be at least level 10 and find Edward Deegan at the Dugout Inn in Diamond City or the Third Rail in Goodneighbor. Once you gain access to the asylum’s administration area, look for Jack Cabot’s office. The bobblehead is resting on his desk near the elevator.
Intelligence Bobblehead
Location: Boston Public Library Effect: +1 Intelligence permanently.
The library is caught in a stalemate between Protectrons and Super Mutants. Enter through the side door (or the Copley Station entrance) and make your way to the mechanical room in the northwestern corner of the building. The Intelligence Bobblehead sits on the computer console bank. If you have the "Science!" perk, the turrets may be hacked to assist you, otherwise, prepare for a messy three-way battle.
Agility Bobblehead
Location: Wreck of the FMS Northern Star Effect: +1 Agility permanently.
Located on the southeastern tip of the map, this shipwreck is inhabited by Mirelurks and high-level Raiders. Navigate through the cargo containers and climb the ramps to the deck. Head to the very bow of the ship (the front). There is a small wooden platform extending out over the water; the bobblehead sits at the very edge. Watch your step, as the height and the narrow planks make falling a real risk.
Luck Bobblehead
Location: Spectacle Island Effect: +1 Luck permanently.
Spectacle Island requires a swim or a hazmat suit to reach. On the southern end of the island, look for a green, half-sunken tugboat. Go to the wheelhouse on the upper deck. The bobblehead is inside a locker next to a steamer trunk. Be warned: activating the nearby generator to clear the island of Mirelurks will trigger a fight with a Mirelurk Queen, which can be devastating for under-leveled characters.
The Thirteen Skill and Utility Bobbleheads
Barter Bobblehead
Location: Longneck Lukowski's Cannery Effect: Prices are 5% better.
Inside the cannery, head to the main assembly room. Follow the catwalks up to the metal office overlooking the production line in the northwestern corner. The bobblehead is on top of a broken terminal. While here, you can also start the "Mystery Meat" quest, which reveals the dark secret behind the canned goods sold in the Commonwealth.
Big Guns Bobblehead
Location: Vault 95 Effect: +25% critical damage with heavy weapons.
Vault 95 is a dangerous location in the Glowing Sea border region, filled with Gunners and Assaultrons. Head to the living quarters on the northern side of the vault. The bobblehead is located on a radio in the bedroom area. This is a must-have for players utilizing Miniguns, Gatling Lasers, or Fat Man launchers.
Energy Weapons Bobblehead
Location: Fort Hagen Effect: +25% critical damage with energy weapons.
You typically enter Fort Hagen during the main quest "Reunions" while hunting Kellogg. Navigate to the Command Center (the basement levels). In the southwestern area of the kitchens, there is a small table situated between two refrigerators. The bobblehead sits there. Ensure you pick it up before leaving the building after the boss fight, as it saves a significant amount of backtracking.
Explosives Bobblehead
Location: Saugus Ironworks Effect: +15% damage with explosives.
This facility is the base of the Forged, a group of fire-obsessed Raiders. You must reach the Blast Furnace area at the top of the building. After the confrontation with Slag (the leader), look behind the control podium near the steamer trunk. The bobblehead is on a computer console. This is a high-danger zone due to the prevalence of Molotov cocktails and flamers.
Lock Picking Bobblehead
Location: Pickman Gallery Effect: Lockpicking is permanently easier.
The Pickman Gallery is north of Goodneighbor. Descend through the holes in the floor until you reach the basement tunnels. You will eventually find Pickman being cornered by Raiders in the lowest chamber. The bobblehead is on the ground next to a flaming trash can in the center of the room. Picking this up makes the sweet spot for locks significantly larger.
Medicine Bobblehead
Location: Vault 81 Effect: Stimpaks heal 10% more.
You must enter Vault 81 and initiate the quest "Hole in the Wall" by donating blood to Dr. Forsythe and then returning later. Once you gain access to the Secret Vault area, navigate to Curie's office in the southeastern section. The bobblehead is on her desk. Note that the 10% bonus is multiplicative, which is a significant boost for Survival mode players.
Melee Bobblehead
Location: Trinity Tower Effect: +25% critical damage with melee weapons.
Fight your way to the very top of Trinity Tower to rescue Rex Goodman and Strong. The bobblehead is inside the cage where they are being held. If you are struggling with the Super Mutants here, using a companion like Piper or Nick Valentine to draw fire while you use the elevators can be a viable tactic.
Repair Bobblehead
Location: Corvega Assembly Plant Effect: Fusion Cores last 10% longer.
This is one of the most useful items for Power Armor users. Navigate to the exterior roof of the Corvega plant in Lexington. You need to reach the highest point—a catwalk surrounding the large blue spherical tank. The bobblehead is sitting on a crate at the end of the southwest gantry. This area is swarming with Raiders, so sniping from the ground before ascending is recommended.
Science Bobblehead
Location: Vault 75 (Malden Middle School) Effect: One extra guess when hacking terminals.
Vault 75 is hidden beneath the gymnasium of Malden Middle School. You need to obtain the Lab Access Card from a Gunner Commander within the vault. Once inside the research lab area, look for the room overlooking the combat training course. The bobblehead is on a desk. This effectively prevents terminal lockouts for players who haven't mastered the hacking minigame.
Small Guns Bobblehead
Location: Gunners Plaza Effect: +25% critical damage with ballistic firearms.
Gunners Plaza is one of the most heavily defended locations in the game. Head to the broadcast room on the ground floor. You will need to take down several high-ranking Gunners (often including a Captain) to reach the desk where the bobblehead sits. This is arguably the best bobblehead for standard combat builds.
Sneak Bobblehead
Location: Dunwich Borers Effect: You are 10% harder to detect.
Dunwich Borers is a marble quarry located in the northeast. You must descend deep into the mine, passing through the Raider camp and into the Ghoul-infested tunnels. Near the "Station 4" terminal, the bobblehead is on a small metal table next to a lantern. This area is very dark and atmospheric, so bring a light source or Night Person perks.
Speech Bobblehead
Location: Vault 114 (Park Street Station) Effect: All vendors have 100 more caps for bartering.
You will find this during the quest "Unlikely Valentine." It is located in the Overseer's office where Nick Valentine is being held. It sits on the desk right behind Nick. This is a subtle but powerful economic boost, especially when selling heavy loot to multiple vendors in Diamond City.
Unarmed Bobblehead
Location: Atom Cats Garage Effect: +25% critical damage with unarmed attacks.
The Atom Cats are a neutral group of Power Armor enthusiasts located on a peninsula in the southeast. This is the easiest bobblehead to obtain; it is sitting on the hood of a rusty car inside the main warehouse. No combat is required if you remain on good terms with the gang.
Optimizing Your Collection Strategy
For a balanced playthrough in 2026, the order in which you collect these items can dictate your power curve.
- Early Game (Level 1-15): Prioritize Perception (Concord) and Repair (Corvega). The Perception boost helps with early-game accuracy, while the Repair bobblehead makes your limited supply of Fusion Cores last significantly longer.
- Mid Game (Level 15-30): Target Intelligence (Boston Public Library) and Small Guns (Gunners Plaza). By this point, you should have the firepower to handle the Gunner squads at the Plaza.
- Late Game (Level 30+): Finish the Charisma questline and head into the Glowing Sea for the Big Guns bobblehead. Ensure your base stats are at 10 before picking up any remaining S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bobbleheads to hit that legendary level 11.
The Bobblehead Stand
Once collected, bobbleheads do not need to remain in your inventory to provide their bonuses. You can build a Bobblehead Stand at any of your settlements using the Workshop menu (found under Decorations > Miscellaneous). Placing your collection on a stand serves two purposes: it creates a visual trophy of your progress and clears up space in your miscellaneous inventory tab. Even if a settlement is attacked or the stand is moved, the permanent bonuses to your character will remain intact.
Tracking down every bobblehead is more than just a completionist's goal; it is a fundamental part of character progression that separates a standard survivor from a legend of the wasteland. Whether you are playing the original release or a heavily modded 2026 version of the Commonwealth, these 20 icons remain the ultimate prizes for any explorer.
