Scouting All Bobblehead Locations Fallout 4: Boost Your Stats Fast
Scattered across the post-apocalyptic ruins of the Commonwealth, 20 Vault-Tec Bobbleheads stand as the ultimate collectibles for any dedicated Survivor. These aren't just plastic decorations for a shelf; each one provides a permanent, non-expiring boost to your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats or specific gameplay skills. Finding all bobblehead locations in Fallout 4 is a rite of passage that can turn a struggling wanderer into a wasteland legend.
Collecting these icons is strategically vital. While most perks are tied to your level, bobbleheads offer a unique way to bypass standard limits. For instance, if you collect a S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bobblehead while that stat is already at 10, it will permanently increase to 11, unlocking hidden potential in your character build. This guide details exactly where to find every single one, the requirements to reach them, and the specific bonuses they provide.
The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Bobbleheads
There are seven bobbleheads dedicated to the core attributes of your character. Each adds a permanent +1 to the respective stat.
1. Strength Bobblehead
Location: Mass Fusion Building Effect: +1 Strength
The Strength Bobblehead is perched high above the lobby of the Mass Fusion Building. To reach it, you must navigate to the upper balconies. If you are following the main questline, you will eventually visit this location during high-stakes missions for the Brotherhood of Steel or the Institute. However, you can fight your way in earlier. Head to the top floor of the main lobby area. Look for a large metal statue hanging over the central floor. The bobblehead is sitting on top of this statue's head. You can reach it by walking out onto the small ledges near the couches on the upper level.
2. Perception Bobblehead
Location: Museum of Freedom (Concord) Effect: +1 Perception
This is likely the first bobblehead most players encounter. During the quest "When Freedom Calls," you will enter the Museum of Freedom to help Preston Garvey and his group of settlers. Once you reach the top floor where the survivors are holed up, look at the large desk near the terminal Preston is standing by. The Perception Bobblehead is sitting right on the corner of the desk. Don't leave for the roof to fight the Deathclaw until you've grabbed it.
3. Endurance Bobblehead
Location: Poseidon Energy Effect: +1 Endurance
Poseidon Energy is a massive, industrial complex in the southeastern quadrant of the map, heavily guarded by Raiders and automated turrets. The interior is a maze of catwalks and pipes. Navigate to the central, large chamber where the Raider leader, Cutty, resides. High up in the middle of this room is a suspended metal office. Use the ramps and stairs to reach this elevated room. The bobblehead is sitting on a metal desk next to a terminal. Be prepared for a significant firefight, as the Raiders here are well-equipped.
4. Charisma Bobblehead
Location: Parsons State Insane Asylum Effect: +1 Charisma
This is one of the few bobbleheads that is strictly locked behind a quest chain. You cannot simply walk into Parsons State. You must first be at least level 10 and find Edward Deegan (often found in Diamond City, Goodneighbor, or Bunker Hill). Complete the quests "Special Delivery" and "Emogene Takes a Lover" for the Cabot family. This leads to "The Secret of Cabot House," which grants you access to the asylum. Inside, follow Jack Cabot into the facility's office area. The bobblehead is on his desk in the administration section.
5. Intelligence Bobblehead
Location: Boston Public Library Effect: +1 Intelligence
The Boston Public Library is caught in a stalemate between Super Mutants and Protectrons. You can enter through the main doors or via a side entrance near Copley Station. Head to the northwestern corner of the building's second floor. You are looking for a large mechanical room filled with computer banks and control panels. The Intelligence Bobblehead is resting on top of one of the large computer consoles. Clearing the turrets in this room is recommended before attempting to grab it.
6. Agility Bobblehead
Location: Wreck of the FMS Northern Star Effect: +1 Agility
Located on the southeastern coast, this massive ship is now home to a crew of ghoul Raiders. You need to fight your way from the hull up to the main deck and then toward the bow (the front) of the ship. Navigate past the makeshift shacks built on the deck. At the very tip of the bow, there is a wooden platform extending out over the water. The Agility Bobblehead is sitting on the very edge of this plank. Watch your step; it is easy to fall into the irradiated water below.
7. Luck Bobblehead
Location: Spectacle Island Effect: +1 Luck
Spectacle Island is a large landmass off the eastern coast. You will need to swim there (Rad-X or a hazmat suit is highly recommended). On the southern end of the island, look for a green, partially submerged tugboat. Enter the wheelhouse (the top cabin) of the boat. Inside, you'll find a small locker next to a steamer trunk. Open the locker to find the Luck Bobblehead hidden inside. Be wary of the high-level Mirelurks that inhabit the island.
The Skill Bobbleheads
These 13 bobbleheads provide permanent percentage bonuses or unique perks to specific gameplay mechanics like combat, bartering, or hacking.
8. Barter Bobblehead
Location: Longneck Lukowski's Cannery Effect: Prices are permanently 5% better.
Enter the cannery and head to the main assembly room. You'll likely see Theodore Lukowski working there. Follow the metal catwalks up to the northwestern corner of the upper level. There is a small office overlooking the canning line. Inside this office, the bobblehead is sitting on a desk next to a terminal. While here, you might also want to investigate the basement to trigger the quest "Mystery Meat."
9. Big Guns Bobblehead
Location: Vault 95 Effect: Permanently gain +25% critical damage with heavy weapons.
Vault 95 is a dangerous location filled with high-level Gunners and assaultrons. After entering the vault, head through the living quarters. Go to the northernmost room in the residential area. The bobblehead is sitting on top of a radio positioned between two couches. This is an essential pick-up for builds utilizing the Fat Man, Missile Launcher, or Minigun.
10. Energy Weapons Bobblehead
Location: Fort Hagen Effect: Permanently gain +25% critical damage with energy weapons.
You visit Fort Hagen during the main quest "Reunions" while hunting for Kellogg. Navigate to the Command Center in the basement levels. The bobblehead is located in the kitchen area, tucked on a small table between two refrigerators. Since this area is inaccessible until you trigger the specific part of the main story involving Dogmeat, plan your collection run accordingly.
11. Explosives Bobblehead
Location: Saugus Ironworks Effect: Permanently gain +15% damage with explosives.
Saugus Ironworks is the base of the "Forged," a brutal gang obsessed with fire. Fight through the exterior and enter the Blast Furnace area. This is where you confront the leader, Slag. During or after the fight, look at the back of the room on the upper catwalks. The bobblehead is sitting on top of a large industrial control panel (steamer trunk nearby). This boost applies to grenades, mines, and the legendary "Explosive" weapon prefix.
12. Lock Picking Bobblehead
Location: Pickman Gallery Effect: Lockpicking is permanently easier.
Located in the North End of Boston, the Pickman Gallery is a macabre location filled with Raiders. Head deep into the basement and follow the tunnels into the sub-basement where you meet Pickman himself. In the final chamber where Pickman is being confronted by Raiders, look for a flaming trash can. The bobblehead is on the ground next to it, tucked between some brick pillars.
13. Medicine Bobblehead
Location: Vault 81 Effect: Stimpaks heal 10% more damage.
Vault 81 is a functional vault that requires a small bribe (three fusion cores) or high charisma to enter. Once inside, you must complete the quest "Hole in the Wall" to gain access to the Secret Vault 81 section. Follow the path through the hidden facility until you reach the room where Curie is located. The bobblehead is sitting on a desk in Curie's office. This is one of the most useful survivability boosts in the game.
14. Melee Bobblehead
Location: Trinity Tower Effect: Permanently gain +25% critical damage with melee weapons.
Prepare for a long climb. Trinity Tower is occupied by Super Mutants. You must take a series of elevators to reach the very top. In the final room, where you find Rex Goodman and the Super Mutant Strong in a locked cage, the bobblehead is sitting on a workbench. Grabbing this is a great way to kick off a friendship with Strong, who becomes a companion after this encounter.
15. Repair Bobblehead
Location: Corvega Assembly Plant Effect: Fusion Cores permanently last 10% longer.
This is a massive facility in Lexington. You don't actually need to go deep inside the plant; the bobblehead is on the roof. Navigate to the very highest point of the exterior walkways, specifically the southwestern side. You will see a large blue spherical tank. Follow the catwalk that circles this tank to the very end. The bobblehead is sitting on a crate. This is a must-have for Power Armor users.
16. Science Bobblehead
Location: Malden Middle School (Vault 75) Effect: Get one extra guess while hacking terminals.
Enter Malden Middle School and find the elevator leading down to Vault 75. You will need to obtain access cards from Gunner commanders within the vault to progress. Once you have reached the laboratory area overlooking the combat training course, look for the main research office. The Science Bobblehead is sitting on a desk near a terminal. This effectively gives you five guesses instead of four, making master-level terminals much less frustrating.
17. Small Guns Bobblehead
Location: Gunners Plaza Effect: Permanently gain +25% critical damage with ballistic firearms.
Gunners Plaza serves as the headquarters for the Gunner mercenary group. It is heavily fortified. Enter the building and clear the ground floor. Head to the western side of the building on the main level to find the recording studio (look for the "On Air" sign). You will need a key or high lockpicking to enter. The bobblehead is sitting on the broadcast desk inside the room. This affects almost all standard pistols, rifles, and shotguns.
18. Sneak Bobblehead
Location: Dunwich Borers Effect: You are permanently 10% harder to detect.
Dunwich Borers is a deep marble quarry. You must fight through Raiders on the surface and then descend into the flooded, ghoul-infested depths. Follow the tunnels down to "Station 4." Near a terminal and a lantern on a small metal table, you will find the bobblehead. The atmosphere here is quite eerie, with several scripted "flashback" hallucinations, so stay alert.
19. Speech Bobblehead
Location: Park Street Station (Vault 114) Effect: All vendors permanently have 100 more caps for bartering.
You will find this during the main quest "Unlikely Valentine" while rescuing Nick Valentine from Skinny Malone's gang. Once you reach the Overseer's office in Vault 114, look for the desk where Nick is waiting. The bobblehead is sitting right there. If you miss it during the rescue, you can return later, though you'll have to fight through respawned Triggermen.
20. Unarmed Bobblehead
Location: Atom Cats Garage Effect: Permanently gain +25% critical damage with unarmed attacks.
Located on the peninsula in the southeastern part of the Commonwealth, the Atom Cats Garage is a peaceful (mostly) settlement of Power Armor enthusiasts. Go to the main warehouse where the cars and armor frames are kept. On the hood of a rusty, dilapidated car in the middle of the garage, the Unarmed Bobblehead is waiting for you. It's one of the easiest to grab since there's usually no combat required if you play nice with the Cats.
Optimizing Your Collection Run
When planning to visit all bobblehead locations in Fallout 4, it is helpful to group them by geographical region to save on travel time, especially if playing on Survival difficulty where fast travel is disabled.
- The Early Northwest Loop: Start with Perception in Concord, then hit the Repair bobblehead at Corvega. From there, head slightly east to Malden Middle School for the Science bobblehead.
- The Boston Urban Core: Many are clustered in the city. You can hit the Intelligence (Library), Speech (Vault 114), and Strength (Mass Fusion) bobbleheads in a single afternoon. Note that Strength and Speech are best done during their associated quests.
- The Coastal Expedition: Once you are higher level, travel down the eastern coast. Start at Saugus Ironworks (Explosives), move to the FMS Northern Star (Agility), and then swim out to Spectacle Island (Luck) and Poseidon Energy (Endurance).
Displaying the Collection
Once you have gathered these items, you should not leave them in your inventory. While the bonuses are permanent the moment you pick them up, bobbleheads can be displayed in your settlements. In the Workshop menu, under Furniture > Shelves, you can build a Bobblehead Stand. This custom-made rack has 20 slots, one for each unique figure. Placing them here allows you to see your progress and adds a high-tier aesthetic to your home base in Sanctuary or Diamond City.
Collecting every bobblehead provides a significant cumulative advantage. Between the +7 total S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points and the massive critical damage boosts to every weapon type, your character will be significantly more powerful than one who ignores these treasures. Whether you are a completionist or just looking for an edge in combat, tracking down these locations is one of the most rewarding activities in the Commonwealth.
